The special thing about a Kathryn Le Veque medieval novel is that the stories are all different. What makes that impressive is I have read over 30 of her novels. Her characters seem so real that I found myself crying over some of her characters reaction to their grief. The people in her novels are so very real.

Although there is an impressive battle, this book mainly deals with the power of love. The reader very quickly enters the world of the Thunder Warrior the middle brother of The Thunder Lords. He meets Courtly Love de Lara in a unique and humorous way. But after the first misunderstanding, it is love at first sight for both Maximus and Courtly. Max is the most feared of the brothers for his brutal skills in battle. Loving the kind and thoughtful Courtly sets in motion a transformation of Max into, not just a killing machine, but a sensitive man able to show his emotions.

Courtly is a gentle but strong woman. She is a protector but she will also fight for what she believes in. The scenes where it is just the two of them are touching, sometimes humorous, and let you enter the love story of a Medieval couple.

But it is a rocky way to try to get to their HEA. They must try to make it past an enraged parent, attempted murder, the horror of war and politics when friends fought on opposite sides. The author brings back some of the heroes of previous novels as politics merge into a massive battle. We see not only the pain of divided loyalties, but the power of friendship and the importance of knightly honor.

Enjoy entering the Medieval world of Kathryn Le Veque. I have loved every one of her Medieval books. There is Romance, history, very real emotion, and excellent descriptions of the life and times of the Medieval culture. I loved this book so go back to time when there really were Knight in Shining Armor.

Where to begin! The story begins with a very embarrassing meeting between Maximus and Courtly. You have to read it to find out - it was an "oh my goodness" moment! If only men like the de Shera brothers were commonplace - sigh! The story kept me enraptured from beginning to end. I was on pins and needles when the big battle scene began between Simon de Montford's army and King Henry's army. Many of Ms. Le Veque's famous characters faced each other on the battlefield. I was stressed because I was wondering if William de Wolfe and his sons would do well battling against Davyss de Winter with his famous Lespada sword. But on the other hand it was heartwarming to read that William and his sons rode into battle together. If you haven't read Ms. Le Veque's other stories, please read The Wolfe, Lespada, and Rise of the Defender. Many of the characters from those books appear in this tale. I cannot wait for Book 3,Tiberius' story, where the continuation of the de Shera saga unfolds.

I'm impatiently waiting for Book 3, because I would also like to know what happens to the rest of the supporting heroes. Do they survive the other battles between Simon de Montfort and King Henry?
For me this was a great book with a loving, devoted hero and a beautiful and resourceful heroine.. I was somewhat hesitant about reading this book, for I had already read the other two books in the series, and I had no particularly liked the "Thunder Knight", and I actually hated "The Thunder Lord". However, the "Thunder Warrior" was a wondeful story, as I was reading it, I could sense the voice of Ms. Le Veque, a voice I have come to know and love, and a voice that was very lacking in the other two stories, at least I think so. This book still had the bonding of the brothers, but the romance was vibrant and very much the center of the tale. I especially enjoyed that the love scene was basically done from the HE point of view, and that once again the hero took the heroine in a shopping spree, loved that touch, that is one of Ms. Le Veque signature details. However, for me there was still too much descriptive politics, (but then we cannot have everything).
Wow what a truly amazing story this is by Ms. Kathryn Le Veque. Yes, this maybe the second book in the thunder lords series but not only is it better than the first book it also seems reminiscent of some of her earlier works which by the way I have always loved her older stories and this book is so much like that.The handsome larger than life serious yet humorous English knight Maximus his beautiful damsel in distress Courtly throw in a lot of familial conflict a war destined to keep the two lovers apart and not really perfect timing but it is the consummate love story and that it truly can conquer all that I so miss in reading all types of romances.
Maximus while shopping for his sister-in-law notices a burning hostel and sees a beautiful woman climbing out of the window. Immediately he goes to assist the woman Courtly their first meeting is hilarious but Maximus being the ultimate gentleman makes a lasting impression on her also making a lasting impression on me as well. Pretty soon neither one can forget the other and their attraction instantly becomes love. Will Maximus make the ultimate sacrifice all in the name of love? The story moves quite fast and is such a page turner I could hardly put the book down!
I loved Courtly she seemed so real and in actuality I really wish she was. She is level headed, compassionate, resourceful and beautiful a heroine that is one of the best heroines I have read in such a long time someone that is not too stupid to live but someone I would aspire to be like. She is not scared to voice her opinion and stands up for herself against her father her aunt even Maximus truly a girl after my own heart! What can I say about Maximus yes even though I don’t like heroes with beards I couldn’t help but fall and have a little crush on him. What a man! He might be a warrior but this is just a perfect depiction of the knight that is going to come on some white horse and save the heroine sigh. There were a few things about some of the minor characters that I also cared about from Keir St. Hever, Garran de Moray, Stefan du Bois, Tiberius de Shera and even Courtly’s aunt Ellice. I know that Ms. Le Veque will not disappoint me and in her next book will probably be epic and a lovely end to all these wonderful characters that she writes about. That is why I rated the book five stars, can highly recommend it and will definitely get more books from Ms. Le Veque!
